Wow. I figured I couldn't let the whole month of June just slip on by...I'm still here! Work's been a bit busy lately, which is great. That means I have a whole slew of interesting projects to work on. I've been working hard lately because everything at work is BLOCKED. Typepad, lotsa blogs, email access--all that is blocked at work, and when I get home, I knit for an hour, maybe two (maybe) and then hit the sack. Surprisingly, I can visit Wendy, Knit Picks, Webs, and Virtual Yarns, so I have plenty of eye candy. I just can't converse with anyone about it.
So let me tell you about June. It took me all month to start and finish my first pair of toe-up socks. The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepard Sock in Seaside. I used US2's with a gauge of 8st/". I used Wendy's Toe-Up sock pattern, and a modified feather and fan stitch pattern.
I will never knit toe-up socks again.
That's not entirely true, but wow..how boring. I missed the feeling that I could run low on yarn and wouldn't be able to finish...better not make that cuff to long! will the lys have the same dye lot? will I make it? will I??? yeah...none of that. And the second sock took forever. Once I finished the heel and an inch of cuff, it took me two weeks to finish it up. I had planned to use all the yarn, but I had so much yarn left. The cuffs are over 9 inches, but I could've easily made them 11" or even a foot. Oh. A foot. Get it? hahaha..
Umm...I'm taking a mini-break from socks and started back on Madeline...
Let's see what else? Well, I went to Chicago a few weeks ago, and I had a blast! I swear, I think that was the best trip I had home in a long, long time. I hit up the clubs, met some cool new people, hooked up with old friends, hit the clubs, the restaurants, the lake front...summertime in Chicago. Oh, and for the first time, I went to Wrigley Field. Actually, I went to the reggae club down the street, but I walked/drove past Wrigley..and I was born and raised in Chi too..
Then the next week, I got really sick. I was out for a week. It wasn't pretty. I had a viral throat infection, and I'm still getting over it. I blame Seth. It was all him. I was just fine, and then he complained of a sore throat, and BOOM! I'm down for the count. He, on the other had, was only mildly sick. Of course...
Okay, and then......I cut off all my hair. My mother is gonna flip. I went from....to.....(oh, don't mind the huge, huge, HUGE Debbie Bliss sweater..I gotta rip that and make a smaller size) Yep, I cut it off. It's time for something new, and I wanna rock fierce afro in the next year, so, that hair had to go...it you were to touch it it feels like really soft wool. I love it!
Hmm...I think that's it. That was June. This weekend, Seth and I are headed back up to Duluth to spend the 4th, and to help his brother move from Winnipeg to Davis, CA. We're only helping from Duluth to Minneapolis *smile*..
Can't wait for July. There's nothing else to cut off...hahaha..okay another joke, but I'm not even going there....
