Meg has resigned the idea that it'll ever get cool. That's her...lounging on top of one of my knitting books. Maybe she thought it was cool...
On the other hand, Extra knows it's cool on the futon, in front of the box fan...
Summer of Wool...
Amidst all the hype of the Summer of Lace in blogland, I was determined to work on Madeline and Son of Aran, hereby dubbed Aaron, and start my very own Summer of Wool. I enjoy knitting Madeline so much, and Black Water Abbey Yarn is steady becoming my new favorite yarn find, but.....
I chose to move to a non-air-conditioned apartment during the hottest summer Minneapolis has seen in a long time....it's been 8 days of 90+ degree weather here. Don't get me wrong...I am totally enjoying the sunshine. After a spring season filed with rain and overcast, I am loving the sun...but there's only so much a city girl used to air-conditioning can take. And when the cats are content to share the space in the bathroom next to the toilet bowl, because that's the coolest place in the apartment, and not fight...well....it's just plain hot...
So I am not having a summer of wool...I am very quietly having my version of a summer of lace (shh--don't tell anyone). The only knitting I can comfortably do at home is the Corset...
I like the design. I really like working with the cotton/silk blend yarn, and the lilac color is very soothing.
I don't like that there have been lots of corrections discovered in a pattern that cost 5 bucks. Yeah, it's 5 bucks, but I'm expecting that the pattern has been test knitted before I paid for it...ahhh....relax, relate...release...alright, that's my rant for the day. Honest. Just don't bring up iPods....
Hmm...what else???
Oh.
I decided to keep the IK socks for myself. I think that these are socks only a mamma can love. That devil-red color. That long cuff. I don't think Nancy Bush had in mind for me to give this mammoth, Minnesota-huskie sock, to a lace-loving, dainty sockpal. I enjoyed knitting it, and I've cast on for the second one, but my sockpal is getting something else. I've decided back on the blue-Opal yarn...(which apparently, I don't have a picture of) and the Vine Lace pattern in Socks, Socks, Socks. I think this will be it. Progress pictures next time. Oh...and a job news update next time too....

Ohh I've just ordered Socks Socks Socks!

I keep finding my cats splayed out next to vent registers! It's been in the high 90s low 100s here.
Corset is looking good! I got a bit concerned when I saw the pattern pdf as well. When a pattern says that it's like the fifth version, it makes a person wonder.
